We caught up with our lovely friends at Dovetail Interiors, who are our Stockist of the Month for April! Find out all about their amazing shop situated in Bedale, North Yorkshire.
Tell us a bit about your shop...
Dovetail Interiors opened over 25 years ago and we have owned it since 2013, but I worked for the previous two owners. Based in Bedale, North Yorkshire, we moved to our larger Market Place location in 2009. The business was predominantly a furniture shop, but over the last 12 years, we have focussed more on homeware, home accessories and gifts. The shop is spread over two floors and is a series of showrooms, each selling different products. We sell everything, including tableware, soft furnishings, furniture, bespoke curtains and roman blinds.
What do you love about being a shop owner?
I love the buying side of the business and always look forward to new seasons to see what new designs are coming out. I also really enjoy being on the shop floor with the customers both the visitors and locals.
Have you ever had any famous faces pop in?
Over the years, we have been visited by Jeremy Vine, the chef Rosemary Shrager and occasionally some of the cast from Emmerdale as we are based in the Yorkshire Dales.

Tell us about the place you are located...
Bedale is located at the gateway to the Dales and is a traditional Yorkshire Market Town. It has a cobbled Market Place and is full of fantastic independent shops and businesses.
Your favourite time of the year in the shop?
My favourite time of the year is Spring when Christmas has been put away and we fill the shop with all new Spring products.
Your favourite moment in the shop?
Opening our doors again after the lockdowns and hearing how much our customers had missed us.
What first attracted you to Sophie Allport products?
We love that there are Sophie Allport products for everyone, from dog and cat lovers, the farming community, gardeners to the wildlife of Africa. It also provides our customers with a fine bone china option that we had been missing before.
What's your favourite Sophie Allport design?
I was always a big fan of all the Dog ranges, but the new Strawberry collection is definitely a new favourite.
